Shattered Dreams by Sally Wentworth5/26/2023 I would not have been surprised if the "coachload of campanologists" referred to in chapter three, had played a bigger role than they did.Īs I said, this is the weirdest one I've read to date. Police interrogation methods including putting the girl in the glare of a bright light, twisting arms, locking and bolting doors and windows, nearly drowning her in the pool to make a point, and the list goes on. This is one of those harlequins that has a 'hero' who is all force and determination displaying both a sadistic, cruel, insane, obsessive, over the top personality and the methods to match to make sure the heroine is utterly degraded and abused into convincing herself that she 'loves' him and he 'loves' her. If you're looking for romance, as in violins and moonlight and true love and hearts and doves and such, don't read this. This is the weirdest harlequin I ever read.
